Andy's Lawn Care provides a five step program for it customers. In 2011, we have switched to Speciality Turf for our fertilizer / weed control program. This year we will be using GreenGuard Fertilizer which is great for the environment and provides the grass with a deep green color.

#1 Early Spring Application
The early spring application consists of a Dimension 19-0-6, 30% slow release fertilizer. This application has crabgrass pre emergent to stop the crabgrass from even developing. There is also a slow release fertilizer that keeps your lawn looking green. The spring application will be applied when the ground temp is right which can be anywhere from April to May. Another note is after the Dimension is applied to the yard, you have to wait 12 weeks before seeding the yard. The Dimension will stop the seed for germinating if applied earlier.
#2 Late Spring Application
The late spring application consists of another round of pre or post emergent crabgrass control depending on the first round date of application. This round we will also apply some herbicide to kill of any broadleaf weeds.
#3 Early Summer Application
This application consists of a 32-0-10 fertilizer that is applied to the lawn in June. The application had a 75% slow release to help the lawn prepare for the summer heat. Also in this application there is a high amount of potassium to help improve plant stress. Another thing in this fertilizer is 2% to help keep the lawn a nice color of green. We also spot spray for broadleaf weeds that might come up especially along the curb and driveway. This application also includes spot spraying of weeds.
#4 Late Summer Application
The late summer application is a 24-0-11 fertilizer that is applied in July or August. This application also has some iron in it to keep the green color. Another benefit of this application is that it includes some nitrogen to keep the grass growing also helps in keeping the grass healthy during the summer heat. This application also includes spot spraying of weeds.
#5 Fall Application
The fall application is the last one of the year before the grass goes dominant during the winter months. This application has a high amount of nitrogen to get the grass nice and healthy before the winter takes it toll on it. Also this application is a 75% slow release to help the grass come back strong the next spring. The fall we also apply a liquid herbicide to kill of the broadleaf weeds to help prevent them from coming up the following spring.
Tips after application:
- Cut the grass no shorter than 3” tall.
- Do not cut the grass for two days.
- Do not bag the lawn for at least two cuttings.
- Keep pets and kids off the yard for 24 hours.
- Water the lawn within 5 days.
